Megève Village
Megève is a traditional Haute-Savoie village that will not leave you feeling indifferent.
Enriched by an out of the ordinary history and heritage, the village has a soul that goes well beyond the image that we may already have of this unique venue.
The ambassador of local gastronomy revisited by Michelin star chefs, it is a destination that fully lives every season.
The cultural and sporting events give rhythm to the local life and in Megève everyone will find an emotion close to their heart. It’s up to you to discover the legend hiding behind Megève…
Thanks to its inhabitants, Megève is told as much as it is lived.
It cultivates the charm of a true radiant village, flourishing around its main medieval style square, with its old districts and narrow streets, its cool little squares brightened up with fountains and wash houses: all the character of an Alpine architecture that has managed to respect its history while enjoying a quiet pedestrian journey.
Megève’s Ski Area
Megève has gradually merged with neighbouring villages to create the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, with hundreds of kilometres of slopes. There is a variety of slopes on offer in Megève to suit most people. The majority of pistes are rated as green, blue and red, suitable for beginner and intermediates.
Megève is very close to Chamonix, and you can ski in both areas with the Mont Blanc Unlimited lift pass. This close proximity to Mont Blanc means that Megève is sheltered from the wind, making it less prone to bad weather. Therefore, being outside all day is safe and pleasant for beginners and kids.
The three main ski areas are called Mont D’arbois, Rochebrune and Le Jaillet. The Evasion lift pass also includes neighbouring Les Contamines.
Most holidaymakers consider Megève to be big enough to not go elsewhere. Each area has enough terrain to explore, and you would probably only go to one area in a day. Megève is a reasonably low ski resort. Therefore, you can expect some lovely tree-lined runs that give you stunning views of the iconic Mont Blanc.

Some history
In the 1920s, Baroness Maurice de Rothschild, also called Baroness Noémie, revealed the tourist vocation of Megève.
She discovers the village after a convalescent stay at St. Moritz, in Swiss. Tired of the place, she imagines the creation of a new winter sports station in France. On the advice of her ski instructor Try Smith, she discovered Megève and the splendid panoramas visible from the plateau of the Mont d’Arbois, which dominates the village. This marvelous site is worthy of rivaling the resort of the Swiss Alps and the Palace of Mont d’Arbois is born. The resort quickly became the preferred meeting place for the aristocracy, as well as the world of finance and business.
Le premier golf, the first lifts,Altiport, are gradually being developed under the leadership of the energetic Baroness Noémie, without whom the destiny of Megève would certainly not have been the same.
A true land of legends since the dawn of time, Megève is told as much as it is experienced. A pioneering resort, it cultivates the soul of a true alpine village, under the sign of elegance and the French way of life. An internationally renowned historic landmark, the resort of Megève offers you an authentic 4-season destination where new experiences, great adventures and inspiring encounters follow one another.
